The Blue Hole
The Blue Hole can be found to the East of Green Bay. We enter the water over the rocks on the East of the Green Bay dive Site entrance and swim out Easterly for approximately 10 minutes, passing the Starship Enterprise rock along the way.
The average depth for the dive is around 6 metres but when we reach the Blue Hole itself, we drop through it down to 17 metres. Be aware that there may be thermoclines in this area and the water temperature can drop 3 to 4 degrees.
As we swim into the Blue Hole, there is a small cave to the side, through which we exit the hole to the sandy area with sea grass on the far side. Inside this cave, we regularly find Hermit crabs hiding in their shells along with Soldier and Squirrel Fish.
As with our other dive sites, we often find perch, pipe fish, moray eels and octopus in this area too along with rarer sightings of trigger fish and turtles.
You can also see the biggest sponge in Cyprus as you exit and begin the return journey to the exit point.
As we return, if all the divers have sufficient air left, we swim around into Green Bay and you have the opportunity to see all the delights of that fantastic dive site into the bargain.
