At Canyon
The canyon is a fantastic Cyprus dive site that is situated on the Agia Napa side of the cape Greko peninsula. The wind can often be quite strong on this side, making entry and exit from the dive site difficult. This means that it is usually best to dive the Canyon early in the morning before the wind has picked up.
The Canyon has a maximum depth of around 16 metres, following the reef around the side of Cape greko. You can dive either to the left or the right of the entry point (or even both on the same dive, air depending) or there is a second dive to swim straight out to a reef. However, this is a long swim and not recommended unless you are using nitrox and have redundancy gas (ie twinsets/ rebreathers).
The Canyon is the ideal spot for seeing large starfish (some the size of bin lids) and sting rays. All the usual suspects are also present, including parrot fish, sea bream, octopus and moray eels with the addition of amberjack, conch shells, and even, if you are lucky, flying gurnards.
As with all the dive sites here in Cyprus, the visibility at the Canyon can be up to 40 metres and the water temperature is between 16 and 30 degrees depending on the time of year.
