The tunnels and caves is a dive site in Cyprus situated just around the headland from Cyclops.  It has an average depth of 11 metres although if you venture a little further around the cape, you can reach between 16 and 18 metres.

The dive site has a sandy bottom and comprises a number of tunnels and caves (just swim throughs, special training is not required) through which you can swim and find some different aquatic life.

Within the caves you can find shy little groupers and hermit crabs taking refuge in their shells.  The most common fish to see here are Squirrel fish and Soldier Fish.

The Breathing Caves

Air depending, you may get a chance to swim over the sandy patch and spot our sting rays that have begun to live here over the past three years.  Very shy, you won’t get too close but they are a beauty to see.

Most importantly, you must remember to turn around and look at the caves after you have exited them.  As you can see from the pictures, the air you exhale is released from the top of the caves and it appears as though the caves themselves are breathing and is

particularly beautiful in the mornings when the sun is on the site.

If you are an underwater photography enthusiast, the caves’ entrances and exits provide beautiful frames for your diving photographs.
